What is Vinyasa?
At Republic of Yoga we teach Hatha in the flowing vinyasa style where breath and movement synchronize, like mediation in motion. This practice is physically challenging, unapologetically spiritual, deeply transformational, and most of all, accessible.
I’m new to yoga, which class should I take?
Beginner Vinyasa and Gentle are two great classes to begin with. These classes mix education of yoga with movement beautifully. Please let the teacher know that you are just getting started. We also offer a 4-week Beginner Series monthly, select ‘EVENTS’ from the top menu for details.
How do I sign up for a class?
When signing up for your first class with us select ‘CLASSES’ – ‘SCHEDULE’ from the top menu on our home page. This will take you to MindBody, our online scheduling application. Here you will be able to quickly create an account and then sign up for classes and workshops.
If you are new to our studio and want to sign up in person before your first class, please make sure to arrive a little early so you can fill out a new client information form and sign a liability waiver. We will enter the data and set up your account for you.
Once you have established an account, signing up for classes is quick and easy… either online, by using the free MindBody app. on your phone or in our studio the day of the class.
Do I need to sign up ahead of time or can I just drop in?
Drop-ins are always welcome but by signing up ahead of time you are assured of a spot.
Can I share a class package?
Packages, with the exception of the 30-day unlimited and new student special, may be shared by couples and with their children who attend adult classes.
Which class package should I purchase?
If you are new to our studio, and plan to try more than one class, our new student special is a great option, or you may also purchase a single class. If you plan to attend classes weekly, our package options are a better value. For once a week, the 10 class pass is a great place to start, we also offer a 20 class pass for those attending at least 2 classes weekly. Both class passes expire 3 months from first visit. If you are able to come 3 or more times per week, our monthly unlimited option (with autopay) is the best deal.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move around in is most suitable for yoga. Jeans are not recommended. Shoe-wise, you don’t need any! Yoga is typically practiced in bare feet.
Do I need my own mat?
No, we have mats available for your use. We do strongly recommend you consider purchasing your own mat as you become more and more committed to your practice, and we also have mats and yoga props available for purchase in our studio. It is helpful to have a consistent mat to be able to bring with you wherever you may be practicing!
Do I need to bring anything else with me?
No, we have all the props that you may need during class (blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets). All you have to do is show up!
How early should I get to my class?
If it is your first class, please try to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can fill out a new client form and get a chance to meet the teacher. If you have been to the studio before, just please make sure you arrive with enough time to be ready to be practicing right when class begins.
I have an injury- should I not come?
You are more than welcome to come to a class with an injury after you have consulted with a doctor. Just please be sure to know your limits and let the teacher know you about your injuries. However, if you are sick and contagious, please do not come. We want to keep a safe healthy environment to practice in.
Do you have classes for children?
No, we do not. However, older children are welcome to attend classes with a parent or older sibling.
How do I sign up for workshops and special events?
If you are an established student, just follow the prompts on the ‘Event’ page. If this will be your first visit, you’ll need to set up an account – see ‘How do I sign up for a class’ above.
What is your workshop/event cancellation policy?
In the event that you are unable to attend a workshop or event for which you have registered, we ask that you kindly give 24 hours advance notice, and we’ll issue an account credit that may be used for a future purchase. Registrations that are cancelled the same day or after the event has taken place will not be credited.
I forgot my mat/water bottle/jacket/etc. at the studio. What should I do?
Please call the studio as soon as you realize you have forgotten something. We will set it aside for you with your name on it so you can pick it up next time you are at the studio. If we have an item for 30 days and no one has claimed it, it will be donated or discarded.
